What's The Best Way To Fail At Sales?

    Oh I think it can be easy.

    Never record customer contact data.
    Never show up to appointments.
    Never carry a product/sales catalogue
    Never return voice mail/telephone calls.
    Ignore your email messages
    Insult customers

    Bascially anything the new car salesguys did to me while I was shopping for a new van.

    Nice question.

    Asking questions like this instead of doing your (sales) job. Not asking questions like this whilst doing your (sales) job.

    Waffling, talking, lecturing, arguing, haranguing, going on, appearing to have swallowed a thesaurus, repeating yourself. Repeating yourself further.

    Failing to ask questions. Asking questions and failing to listen to the answers.

    Ignoring your sales manager over the bits you disagree on. Blindly accepting everything your sales manager says.

    Being over familiar, peppering every sentence with the prospect’s name. Being aloof and overbearing.

    Not prioritising anything. Prioritising everything in the wrong order.

    Finally, using too much PowerPoint. Not using PowerPoint at all through fear of “Death by PowerPoint”

    Not knowing where to finish.

    Not numbering important points in proposals or outlines.

    hehehehe love this question...
    one of my first jobs was sales... and as an experienced sales bumb... i found that the best way to fail at sales is going to work... sign in.... go back home... sleep... wake up.. watch TV... eat... PS2... and when it's time to sign out of work.. just go back... write a fake report... sign out... and go home! (I was trying to get myself fired)
