Ribbon Cutting - Juice Bar

Posted by marketing on 125 Points
We are a Chamber of Commerce. We've been asked to do a ribbon cutting for a juice bar...but we don't do ribbon cuttings(long story). I'm trying to think of a fun alternative to do to celebrate the opening of this new business. Thanks!

Does your long story involve someone hurrying to the ceremony with a huge pair of scissors?

"Fun alternative"...Okay, how about swinging a large wooden mallet down onto a cantaloupe as a symbolic beginning? That won't be too messy. On solid wooden stand about 2 feet high. Swing it, leave the mallet there (drop the mallet), walk over to the door and invite people in.

Do you need something ceremonial or simply a theme for an opening event?
In either case, what's notable about this juice bar? Where is it located?

We've thought about smashing a watermelon....cantaloupe may be less messy. We are located in California near Yosemite. The business is a national wide chain of juice bars.

I would suggest that a less messy action could be to turn on the symbolic 'endless tap' where juice will flow continuously from the tap that appears to be unconnected to a liquiid supply. If health regulations allow it, you could use fruit juice and serve some guests fruit juice from the collection pail. This symbolic feature could run all day from the opening ceremony, so it could become a memorable talking point.

Please note that we are limited in providing ideas because you haven't actually set out the procedure that you would like to follow for the whole opening ceremony.

Why not have a contest to engage the community? Seed spitting, fruit sculpture, paintings with fruit juice, juice blending, etc. all would be suitable contest themes.

We are going with the watermelon smash and "drop the mallet". Turns out watermelon is their flavor of the summer! Thanks for the great ideas!
