The Use Of A Blog For Prospects.

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I work as a consultant under the umbrella of a company that has been around since 1992. I recently started this work, and at a point starting from zero clients but prospecting aggressively through traditional methods. I have several prospects in the funnel, just need to continue developing.

As part of the development/process, would like some input regarding the effectiveness of a blog for prospects. I am constantly researching and educating self for best practices in sales & marketing, and need to know if I should spend some time on a blog at this point of starting out.

Thank you in advance for your input.

I think a blog is a great tool for customer education and it also starts show you as a thought leader. But, my opinion, at this time, is that it may not be the best lead generation tool.

White papers, reports and such make a better tool and do the same things as a blog (customer education, thought leadership). In fact you can create a synopsis of the paper for the blog.

With white papers you should use email to send and track how opens which white paper. This gives you an idea what the real interest levels are and puts more people in your lead nurturing funnel. I also believe it is a better lead generator, but blogs are coming along.
