As a consumer would you be more likely to buy from a wevsite displaying the TRUSTe seal and logo than from a competing website without the TRUSTe affiliation?

    no.

    Those logos cost about $300 (maybe more by now) and are only there to make paranoid people feel better.

    You are actually better off online, tan handing your credit card to a waiter or a cashier who can write down or capture the infomation for later use. For that matter, a waiter could make extra money selling credit card numbers to online thieves!

    Anyway, it doesn't matter...even TRUSTe website make mistakes.

    Nope, doesn't make a bit of difference because like Jett said, all you have to do is create a privacy statement, fill out the app, pay the money and you are in.

    To those people that know what the the Truste logo means, they know it means nothing.

    To those that don't know what it means, it also means nothing.

    I do however look for appropriate encryption levels and practices once I started offering up personal information that could be use to fleece my credit.

    I believe it is more important to assure the consumer in print that your website is legit and reputable and that their information is safe and secure than to let a logo do it for you.
