Honestly, its not necessarily the topic you choose because we've all heard the how to increase your SEO, what social media marketing can do for you, ect. I think how you approach these subjects is more important. I like to see unique and interesting approaches to emarketing...

interesting. tell me more about what you mean? like case studies? or like really off-beat things like using Twitter for lead gen or something?

Interestingly enough, I just talked with my colleague who attended the Bulldog Reporter Media Relations Summit...

The best thing he got from their conference were the presentations that shared other company's experiences, Kodak, HP, Disney, etc., sharing what they did, what they learned, and what they're doing now. Case studies right from the source, that either reinforce what you're doing or warn you to change your strategy.

Also, marketers are often now fighting the battle with CEO's, CFO and other top management, to make them understand the new direction web 2.0 has taken us. No longer positive messages-- transparent ones. Open online discussion about products is not scary.

The best conferences have a good balance of general and specific messages-- concepts people can take home and apply to their certain situation, and then exactly HOW they do it.

With all the buzz words, fluff, and good-sounding directionless motivation, marketers are eager for real answers, real formulas to follow. They want to feel like they just sat down with a marketing analyst, and got specific information tailored to them.

One of the most important topics is how to create useful content and increase interactivity. How to keep the human element alive on your site, and manage it.

We've all been told what to do, we need to know exactly how to do it.

Case studies are always really interesting because you don't just hear about a theory, you hear about an application of theory and how it worked for someone else. Anything that I can apply to me is always more interesting...

However, I do love when people have a unique take on how to accomplish SEO increases or any increase your conversion rates....

I would like to see more research in social media. Here's my issue: I am not 100% convinced that all the effort I could put into social media (a lot) would really pay off for a B2B brand. I'd like to experiment, I'd like to test -- but I'd really like to get data about the ROI. And I would like to see b2b treated as a separate beast from b2c.

I'd like to hear success stories on how marketers engaged their execs to participate in blogging.

I would like to hear more about marketing alignment with company objectives and the C-level folks. For marketers to excel, they need to be appreciated for their business strategy skills, not strictly as tactical experts.
