Time Crunch - Need Help With Viral Marketing Ideas

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
We were just informed that our consumer health site that was just launched Apr 07, www.visualdxhealth.com, is nominated for Best Health Site in 2008 and a People's Voice Award by The Webby Awards - huge for us. We are a small Rochester, NY based company up against big guys like WebMD. Any creative thoughts on how to get the word out to vote for the underdog with only 2.5 weeks till voting is closed??

I would make sure that you use Digg for this as well. Write a good newsworthy article about the facts at hand. Link to the voting pages in the articles first paragraph.

Digg it and get as many people as you can to boost your ratings..

If you are very successful, be prepared for hosting problems. Digg can generate enormous traffic flows and you should consider not doing this if you are on Cheap / Shared hosting.

Winning the award won't affect your clients - it's about your company's ego. Instead of focusing energy on getting votes, leverage the fact that you were nominated for "Best Health Site in 2008" in press releases, your website itself, articles that you publish in article banks, etc. Your nomination can be run in all 2008 campaigns as well (whether or not voting is over).

Also, at the end of each of your articles, have a button (vote) with text like: "If you liked the article, let others know. Vote for us for 2008 Webby Awards."

The existing "Vote for VisualDxHealth" graphic, despite being large, blends in too much with the article itself and call-to-action isn't compelling.
