E-mail Service Providers

Posted by Anonymous on 200 Points
Hi everyone,
I have just landed at a new company (in North America), and we are in need of a third-party e-mail provider for our outbound marketing efforts. We have a small-ish list (4,000 e-mail names), and a small-ish budget, and have not done formal outbound e-mail campaigns in the past.

I'm looking for recommendations for a self-service hosted e-mail provider. Requirements include an easy-to-use interface, opt-out list management, the ability to send text and HTML e-mails (and to detect what the recipient can view), and an easy to understand pricing structure. (Am I asking for the world here? Let me know!)

I have used Emma in the past (https://www.myemma.com), and I /really/ liked them, but I need to look at other providers as well.

Do you have any recommendations or experience with other providers like Constant Contact, etc.? Who do you recommend? What has your experience been?

Thanks!

- Jill

Give https://www.streamsend.com a look. One of the nice things about this service is that each account gets its own IP address.

FYI, there's really no such thing as a "sniffer" or the ability to "detect" if the recipient gets HTML or text messages. What happens is that you send a multi-part message that actually sends both versions. If the recipient can see HTML email, that's what they see.

I know it's not that different, but there's no real "detection" here, either.

Compare the service and pricing you find on this page,
https://www.aweber.com/?285786 with others. I have found no better deal for small businesses.

That SendLabs company is pretty good, too. Self-service with no monthly fees, meaning if you skip a few months of emailing out, you won't have to pay for something you're not using.

My favorite: verticalresponse.com no fees, super easy to use, awesome email designs and the pricing if base on the number of emails that you sent, they have very cool features like: if you have a sales team and each sales person has their own list you can send an email on behalf of each person just with one click. Other one is exacttarget.com, a little more expensive but excellent service. I use both depending on my campaigns.

if you want something low cost but really effective AND good support i would check out https://eroi.com and their program emailROI

they have these new semi-custom templates that are a really good deal if you dont want to spend too much, and very customizable. plus their support is free and very quick if you have any problems. they give you good strategy advice and direction so you are not totally on your own with a software program.

Thanks for the recommendation, Paul. Most appreciated.

Jill, I work for the StreamSend Email Marketing service. We have a 30-day free trial so you can try us out and perhaps compare us to other email marketing service providers. If you go to the Web site you can click on prices to get our pricing.

If you have questions about StreamSend, please feel free to email us at sales (at) streamsend.com. If you would like, we could arrange a day/time that is convenient for you to speak on the phone.

    Thanks.

Well Jill, if you sign up for a free trial of StreamSend, I am more than willing to arrange for a customer support person to call and walk you through our system.

Just go to our main email marketing web site and sign up for a free trial. Login to your account and take a look around and try it out.

We can arrange a walk through and training session with one of our support reps. They can take you through how to use the email marketing service and make sure you are happy.

If you like it, you can upgrade. If not, you just let the trial expire on its own. We do not require a credit card for a free 30-day trial.

Your approach is correct to compare different systems. There is really no substitute for looking at the benefits and features of some of them and picking a few to try out. Upgrade the one that best fits your needs.

Frankly, StreamSend is not going to be a good fit for everyone so there might well be another service that is a better fit. I recommend diving in and seeing what works for you. I liken it a bit to test driving a few cars.

By the way, StreamSend is a month-to-month service so if you upgrade and later are dis-satisfied you can easily cancel. A lot of people like our service but people do cancel for various reasons and we make it easy to do so. You can also upgrade or downgrade your account at will.

Of course, no matter what services you try there will be a learning curve but it is not too steep especially if you have some Web savvy.

    Thanks.
