Rate Card For Exclusive Online Sponsorship

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
Hi, can anyone tell me where to find a Rate Card or Calculator where I can work out the rate to charge a sponsor for the exclusive rights to our site?

I have found lots of Rate Cards with Banners and stuff but nothing for Exclusive Sponsorship.

Regards,

Really, instead of finding a rate card-- you should run your numbers and see what you need to charge. I have done events where I have had exclusive sponsorships for $50K and $5K. It also depends on the exposure for those sponsors. Create your list of benefits for your sponsors and a strong value statement-- and work backwards.

Thanks Carol, this is a product that the Teen market around the world will use both voluntarily and through their education system. Coke offered $15M back in 2001 a week before 9/11. I won't go to Coke today as the market considers them a dirty brand. You know that the 12M Middle School students in the US alone will be on this site on the day it goes live. The rest of the world will come on when we localize their region/country.

If you have someone like coke once offering 15Mil, don't waste your time researching rate cards. You have something that has obviously a strong value statement. I'd go direct to larger sites and just call them and ask how they derive their value. I bet you a dollar they don't publish this info-- but they can provide the answers you need. Who do you want to model? If you can't find a model-- then make $15mil your number. Remember in negotiation-- you will never get more than the number you throw out there. Unless, since you are offering an exclusive-- you auction it off starting at your number.

You have an interesting project-- there are tons of companies who's major clients are in your demographics. This would be fun.

I've been asked to comment about Coke for an article. I would like your thoughts of them being a "dirty brand". With my background I like to address isolationism statements. Please email me privately. My contact info is on my profile.

    Thank you

    Thanks Shane,

That makes sense, Coke originally offered that figure as apparently, outside of bottling soft drinks, they are the largest provider of this content and their value at the time was the amount of teens passing by their logo on our site but this was back in 2001.

Your site is unique in amount of traffic, target demographic, as well as I'm sure namy other ways. You can't copy your pricing from someone else. If you need assistance crunching the number then post your traffic as well as demographic and expense information in here and I would be more than willing to assist you in calculating prices.

    Thanks Joshua,

We haven't launched yet so we won't have definite numbers until we go live. We do know that the US Middle School Heads and US High School Heads are waiting in anticipation for us to launch.

I have been told by many Brands to come back and see them once we are live which I understand but I would like to be ready not only for the sponsor a month after we go live, but also for our investors projected ROI.

I would have thought that there would have been a calculator (like there was/is for PPC) for exclusivity sponsorship.
