How To Find A New Subject For My Thesis (branding)

I am a MA student of marketing in Iran. And also I am working in a company distributing kitchenware in Iran. I do like to have my thesis related to branding in Iran for the sake of applying and developing theories in developing countries like Iran. Also, I think of this subject for my Ph.D.
My problem is that I don't know much about new subjects on which has been worked in high ranked universities.
If you could, please guide me how I can find a new subject about branding, branding equity and etc (esp. about my field of work, i.e kitchenware)?

    Hi,

    I see that your interest is in branding and brand equity. What I would suggest you to do is to go through the process of a literature review.

    Go and find journal articles, say for the past 30 years regarding to branding or brand equity. This way you can figure out the evolution of thoughts on how academics and researches think of this issue, what theories evolved and what had been tested.

    That's where you can narrow down and decided EXACTLY what you want to do for you thesis- it has to be VERY specific.

    In my opinion, although many research has been done around the world, not much may be done specific to IRAN, so lucky you, whatever you do will be a contribution.
