can you think of any promotions(like price-offs , gizmos, combo packs etc) that companies in India have done and which really help the category penetrate.

one that i could think of was Fritolays Tazos offer. Today the snackingindustry peentration is almost 94%.
Any more ideas.

    i am not promoting any products but am just studying the promotions done by companies that were really successful ... i am an MBA student... and this is part of a study im doing...

    what i am looking forward to is examples from the past... of promotions that helped the category penetrate into the Indian market..

    I came across this in a thread for Coke, its in Pakistan context but maybe you can have a look in this area:

    "Aggressive promotional and ethnocentric marketing efforts by local cola majors. For instance, Hajj pilgrims were served Zam Zam cola instead of Coca Cola or Pepsi by localites. Thus, local competition would also take away Coke's share in the market."
