Help! I Need A Catchy Name For My Website!

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
Hi. I have a business called Lab but I am opening a multipurpose website where I will be selling my artwork, greeting cards and showcasing my interior designs. Can someone give me a catchy phrase that will attract customers and remain in thier minds for later references?

Lab - like a design lab? I have seen a few sites already that use this phrasing and name -- seems like there is a lot of competition for this. Maybe make a alteration to it like Design Labatories or Design Lab Federation.

Lab doesn't have to be in the web address.

Okay but you got to help us out a little especially if you already have your website running. Tell us a little more about what you are trying to accomplish and we'll provide some phrases.

I was immediately thinking about a LABrador retriever so something like "Go fetch" with a little animated gif or flash of a cartoon dog fetching a stick then a painting then a greeting card then something else would be really cute and not terribly difficult. You could even have the things the dog fetched tied into the menu items on the website and give your pup a name.

    How does that grab you?

best of luck on and off Mprofs

I am going to open a website shortly. I want a catchy phrase that will attract you if you googled "artist" or "designer" or some other phrase that will allow me to stand out.

I am trying to open a website with all three interests that I have. I wanted to know a catchy phrase that associate all three. If you have an idea that is out of the box, I am open.

You're looking for an available unique domain name, right?
Who are your competitors? What are people searching on to find them online?

As far as greeting cards, hallmark, american greetings, and independent businesses have poor website names. I have to check my reference lists to locate them. As far as artist, many of them have a blog or a site that sells their artwork. The interior designers I know usually use their name.

A far better bet in my humble opinion is to join as many artist groups on the net as will have you. There are a number out there especially the painting a day crew many of whom do really excellent work.

google "painting a day" and you should find some of these. Also look at the most recent webby awards under arts.

Essentially the name of the game for you may be "collaboration" with other like minded individuals as opposed to trying to stand out from the crowd.

Think how sitcky ebay is simply because you have a ton of people selling and buying stuff in one giant fleamarket.

Speaking of which, don't be afraid to advertise your biz using loss leaders on ebay.

In terms of the tag lines, catch phrase, etc... pick something that might be a quote from a song or a book or a ????. Trying to do it with artist and designer is going to be really difficult but not impossible.

    best
