Career Services Office For Nontraditional Students

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
As a university career services office in a major metropolitan area that serves nontraditional students, I need a branding idea that will connect with nontraditional students and alumni related to transitioning. Thanks in advance for any ideas. (Next Chapter has already been used...and not successfully.)

I imagine nontraditional students to be studying part-time in a effort to upgrade themselves, maybe holding a job or perhaps have families of their own which are dependent on them.

Its not easy keeping focus with many pressing issues in their lives. Perhaps perseverence and looking ahead to the future will resonate with them. Something that says working extra hard to fulfill their goals and dreams. Something...survivorish. Adaptability. You can get a survivor participant or something for publicity but you'd have to tread carefully as not to alienate people whom may not like the same guy.

But of course i'm not sure of the demographics of your target so that's just my general take.

    Hope its helpful! =)

These suggestions are good, and I certainly appreciate receiving them. Average age of my student population is 35. I work with MBAs, as well as students coming back to school to complete their undergraduate degrees in Business, Human Services, Education, etc. I'm trying to create new signage, marketing pieces, etc. that are going to catch the attention of busy working professionals, coming to school in the evenings, with families, etc., as ntuyap surmised. Any additional ideas that would pop off a sign or banner or website and draw attention to career services would be great.

You might want to repost the question because there might be a lot more people who would like to participate but realize the question is closed.

"We 're with you on this..."

"We salute the effort you have made. Now let us do a little something for you"

Acknowledge that they have come so far and then make it seem like reciprocation. I think most would find it easier to accept.

"Its not easy. Work, family, studying. Striking a balance between work commitments and family is possible. But hey, no one ever said it would be easy. And that's where we come in"

    Hope this helps!
