Brand Affinity, Brand Community, Brand Personification - Does Branding have too many brands?

The 2nd one i like and it might be the basis for further thinking. Ive always been interested in the psychology behind branding - how much does the brand equity influence our decision making process? When we think of brand equity, what "part" of this equity is decisive in making that purchase decision?

What I also find interesnt is mainting the brand equity in ever globalised international market. Does Mercedes have the same brand equity in Germany as it does in the Balkans region or in the USA? Should brand management take into account the regional and national cultural differences of each market? If not, how is this international and universal brand equity maintained? How much does it cost and is it worth it?

These are just some of my thoughts....I would still like to see some more suggestions, pls.
