We Are Proud Of It. What Do You Thnik?

Posted by saintgregor on 40 Points
Hi Gurus,

Please take a look at www.kremsmueller.com

The new google analytics benchmarking system says that it's way above average. We're quite proud of it but so far I didn't hear any external oppinion about it. What do you think?

Sorry but I do not read German,

It surprises me that "English" is not displayed by default - The site should recognize your language settings.

    Target audience:

    - Technical procurement people
    - Costumer's engineers
    - And a lot of job-seekers for all kinds of jobs. From fitters to highly qualified project managers. (The job overview is the most viewed page)

John, could you please explain what you mean by opening an e-mail form on clicking a link.

My German is nonexistent but one thing I notice right away is that there are major issues in Firefox.

The site looks very good. Professional. Nice use of branded graphics throughout the site.

My only suggestion is to make sure that your site satisfies your business objective. What do you want the web visitor to do, upon visiting your site? Right now, company news and jobs are the most prominent things to find. Is that what you want them to do? If you want them to find new product information, you may want to replace one of those sections (or part of one of them) with a promotional area where you can announce your latest product or give attention to something that you want people to see.

could you please tell me which Firefox problems you are encountering? There was a change in the CMS-Version yesterday (IT just told me) which is entirely self-made. Could be the reason. Approx. 15% of our visitors use Firefox. Is that much?

Where are you people located and which system do you run? Just to find the reason for the language problem.

Do you think it's difficult to find the language link?

Thanks for the responses so far!

and yes... news and jobs are the most important thing.

It's very difficult to put our services in a nutshell. You get the best overview of what we're doing and what we stand for by browsing through the news.

And we do have a lot of job-seekers on our site.

The layout of your site is clean and modular but broke down for me in Firefox also. The colors are good and the photography is professional.

My suggestions: The photograph on the front page may be more engaging if the person was looking out at the website visitor instead of at the machines.

    On this page: https://www.kremsmueller.com/UeberUns/Neuigkeiten/Default.aspx?Image=3
the image gallery may be more user friendly if you didn't have to load a new page each time you click to see the next photo. Nothing else seemed to change on the page except the photo. It may be better as a flash widget, ajax application or other presentation method so the page doesn't have to refresh.

I don't speak German but I could see that you have some text next to your icons that probably explains what they are. I was not able to understand what the icons meant just from looking at the images--do the symbols mean something specific in your line of work?

Overall, though, it is a very attractive and professional looking site.

What is the CMS system are you using?

It's quite weird that you people don't locate the language selector. do you think it's not obvious enough?

The CMS is entirely self-made. We've got a couple of quite good programmers in our internal IT-dpt. I'll pass the image suggestion on to them - thanks.

Our IT guys are totally lost with your Firefox comments. None of them could see any elements falling apart.

Could one of you please be so kind and mail a screenshot to webmaster@kremsmueller.com.

    Thanks a lot!

Overall, it looks good, although it came up in German on my machine (I'm in the US). Some of the images on the top overlapped the text in German, but when I clicked on the English link it was fine. I'm running Firefox on a Mac.

Also, the English is somewhat awkward. You may want to have a native speaker review and edit it.
