Need Name For New Upscale Liquor Please

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I'm having trouble coming up with the name for a new brand of liquor that I'm launching, imported from Brazil. The name needs to be 1. Upscale 2. Sexy 3. Exotic
I've been playing around with Portuguese sounding names, reading bossa nova lyrics, looking at names of beaches, rivers, mountains etc. and translated all words that identify the brand in Portuguese -- but not much luck. Any suggestions please!!

Much appreciated,
Mike

I once had a Brazilian girlfriend, mmmm....and I remember just melting at the simplest of things she'd say.

    Howabout:

Como você se chama? Pronounced, [Como vosay say shama]. I know it's long but it means: "What's your name?"
Or, literally, "How Do You Call Yourself?"

    Which is:

    A. A readily identifiable way to approach a member of the opposite sex when you first meet them (perhaps, even with a glass of your liquor in hand)

    B. Also, it asks people, the prospect, a question: How do you call yourself? (Do you call yourself someone who drinks fine spirits and has a beautiful girlfriend with shiny hair and perky nipples? (like in the ad?)) OR do you call yourself a loser, which is what you'll be without this product.

"Yeah, I'll have a glass of the "Voce" on the rocks...." It's got a ring!

    Just a thought!
    Boa sorte *Good Luck*

Would it be beneficial to know the ingredients (at least what it's based on) - or what it tastes like? Is it a "rocks" drink, or will it need a mix? Is it something that'll be sold by the individual bottle similar to wine coolers, beers, etc. or more like liquor?

Probably if we all had one to try we'd be much more creative!

    Thanks!

Good advice cnolte. Thanks for all the advice so far. My product is a brand of cachaca, which is a sugar-cane based liquor, similar to rum. It is clear and versatile, can be ordered by the shot, or easily mixed. It will be sold by the 750ml bottle, competing with grey goose/patorn. I want the brand name to be refined, upscale and not overly obvious or tacky. Hope this helps, since I'm still struggling myself. Thanks again

'ReiFined' (since Rei means King in Portugese)

    'Royale'

    'Regio' (means Regal in Protugese)

    'Luxuria' (means Lust in Portugese)

    'Avancado' (which means Advanced)

I think Avancado rolls off the tongue pretty nicely....hope this helps!

Mike, this is a bit more of a challenge than coming up with a brand name. Brent and others have given you outstanding ideas for names - but I am feeling we need to find something that is on the same level as "scotch," or "vodka" or "bourbon." It is more than just the name of the brand we're looking for - we've been given the task to identify a new name for the taste itself. Am I correct?

Are there derivatives of Cachaca or a word similar? (Which might not be a bad name in and of itself.) As I read your info it appears as though it is made in Brazil and going to be imported (to US?) so we have to determine if a foreign sounding name would be better than an Anglicized name.

I sure don't deserve any points - but will keep thinking.

    Good Luck!

Cachaca is actually the name of the product: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cacha%C3%A7a. I'm seeking a name for my new brand of cachaca and Brent is certainly on the right track. I just haven't found anything that I love yet. All great suggestions were given, and I'll wait another 48 hours to see if new posts come before awarding points.

    Thanks again,
    Mike
