How Do You Find Companies Interested In Helping Kids?

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I am the Corporate Sponsorship Director for a non-profit organization. We make character education films for elementary and high schools. We deliver these programs on 3 screens measuring 13 feet high by 42 feet wide. We do approximately 2500 - 3000 shows throughout the U.S per year. School budgets are being cut at a rapid pace, we are finding that our schools want us back, but can only come up with half the cost. We have to find businesses that will help with the second half. To sponsor 5 schools the cost to the business is $1,800. As a sponsor we are offering: the companies logo and "This presentation brought to you by our friends at......." on the screens before and after the show, a spot on our website as a sponsor and the opportunity for an representative from that company to introduce the show. I need any help and tips anyone can offer up to get in with businesses. You can go to our website and view our shows at: www.motivationalpro.org using the pass code: showpreview.

There are some corporations that are willing to sponsor kids events altruistically, but most are looking for a ROI for their sponsorship investment.

I'm assuming that the films are for students to watch (rather than faculty). So the question becomes, "Which companies would like to have their brand in front of 3000 classrooms of children?". Ideally, you'll find a national sponsor (Apple, Google, Amazon, McDonalds, Jamba Juice, Ben & Jerry's, etc). Alternatively, you might ask the schools for local sponsor suggestions. That might be useful as well, but will require you to create separate slides for the various shows.

Sponsors will want to know such things as: who else is sponsoring, what the message is, how many people (and their demographics), placement of logo, PR opportunities, etc. You might also send them (or point them to) a 3-minute past presentation. Ideally, show the results of your efforts in the community.
