Please Review New Site And Products

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Hi - Maybe I'm too close to this one? Usually I'm pretty darn good at this stuff but I went live last week with a new site and a teleclass series. Lots of hits but only ONE sign up and NO purchases of my teleclass. I'd like to ask you all to be gentle with me but I know that I need to hear what the problem is. Can you all chime in? Thank you.

Since you offer design of web sites and internet marketing services I would work on the design of your web site. It needs an upgrade and it needs to be easy to use. Perhaps Wordpress is not the best solution.

In my opinion, it is a bit confusing and has an "old school" look. I agree with Marcus.

If your main goals are sign ups and purchases, then they should be clear focal points. You currently have the "sign up" link 2nd to last under pages, and I don't even see a clear link to buy.

I agree with the previous comments, you need to definitely step up the design. Red background with white text limits readability, too many different fonts and styles. Even the header image is a bit fuzzy. All of this lends to simply confusing the visitor.

You may want to sign up for one of Marketing Experiments live reviews. I do not work for them, but have participated in some past webinars. Their optimization techniques are good at pointing out what to do to make the site perform better. Visit www.marketingexperiments.com for more info.

    Best of luck!

Your marketing copy is "off". You want to talk about the benefits to using your services, not what you do for them. For example, do you help your clients improve their web marketing...Faster? Cheaper? More reliably?

Do you specialize in small business? Micro-business? Startups?

How are you better than using a web designer?

You've written the copy from first person, but you never identify who you are.

There's not a transparent way to contact you. What's your phone number? Where are you located?

Also: optimize the photos on your success stories page. They take too long to load.

Your web site doesn't introduce you in any way. Who are you? Who are your clients? What have you done for them?

The testimonials say you did a great job, but don't say what it was you actually did. As others have said, it's hard to read, and it's hard to tell what you want your visitors to do.

The site is a "blog", but the opening post is a selling message, rather than an information message. If you're going to combine the two, focus on the information, and then (eventually) surround that with products and services. Or, make one a sub-directory of the other. Look at www.ducttapemarketing.com and ducttapemarketing.com/blog for an example of this.

Also, the one comment seems to be a test message.

Yep. What everybody has said already. Less is better. More focus with less clutter. K.I.S.S. methodology for your home page especially.

Your header is too large and will take up too much space on all pages, and you really should use your coding or have a professional do it. Without discouraging you, I want to say a full reskinning if not full design is needed. If you are getting hits to your site, you must be advertising well. :-)

    Good luck!

Hi Kate, this whole discussion is rather a paradox for me because you are offering your services as an internet marketing expert but cannot get your own site to work :)

There is a major disconnect there :)

Here is what I see immediately. It is the classic old advertising on a budget mistake. 'We can only afford 1 ad so let's put everything in it' :))

First decide what you want to sell.

    1. Internet marketing classes. OK, if this is the product that you want to sell, then make sure the classes are well structured and well defined. How many days, hours weeks? Are they done over VOIP? with video? net meeting etc?

How many units, what time do I need to get online? is ift for the US market or world wide? if worldwide you may need to teach the class at 3 am unless is is all pre canned video.

What are your price points for the classes?
are there options for beginner, intermediate, advanced?

Create a special landing page that is ONLY FOR SELLING CLASSES - nothing else (of course there can be links back to your site so people will know who they are buying from and your reputation in te industry).

But the main focus should be to get the marketing Classes up front and center on the page.

    'Features and benefits'.

Of course you need to detail both but remember to offer the features but 'SELL' the benefits. This is all marketing 101 stuff that you should know already :) Ad you said, you are probably too close to it.

Nice big offer front and center with no hidden agenda and a money back guarantee (30 days if not satisfied with the results etc.)

    make the price points clear.

Get the payment commitment right away - credit card and paypal offers.

Focus focus focus on one single product (the marketing classes) an tailor your page (s) all around that one idea.

Now you will be able to monitor your ROI from your ad spend and traffic arriving on these specific pages.

    Simple as that.

if you want to sell a different service (your personal consulting for instance) Set up another landing page specific to selling that product. Don't mix sales pitches and keep it as simple as possible for the users to understand exactly what you sell, what it is worth to them, why they need it and how much time and money they will need to invest.

I will be happy to work wit you on this if you need further help or coaching. drop em a line if you like.
