Public Relations Vs. Advertising

We discussed in class the book Fall of Advertising and the Rise of PR. we are tasked to come up with antithesis of this. please help me comprehend and have a deeper knowledge and view of these two concepts, this time making it the Rise of Advertising and the Fall of PR. thankl you very much.

    Although I have never read the book I could see how someone might look at as advertising getting more and more mundane. As consumers are bombarded with more and more advertising messages they become immune to them, thus PR has the potential to get stronger.

    On the other side of this you could make the argument that as traditional advertising methods begin to falter companies are looking for newer ways to reach consumers such as product placement advertising in movies and TV shows. And conversely with the rise of the internet "news" is being looked at with more skepticism.

    That is one way to look at it.
