New Name For A Dj Company

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
I'm looking for ideas on a new name and branding for a disc jockey business. Formerly known as "O-vation", the business has expanded from our core business (DJ's) into many other fields - because of this our name is more associated with our Wedding Music and composition services rather than our DJ service, and "O-vation" is now "O-vation DJ's" - decidedly less punchy than its original branding. So I'm looking for something catchy and effective to replace it with.

You should consider talking to your clients to find out what sort of equity you have in your existing name. Better to have a name that is recognized than one that is punchy and catchy.

Branding is about consistently delivering on your brand promise, not the name. Take your cues from your customers rather than your ego or gut instincts. Ask them what they think about your company and your name before you change it

first of all you need to let us know your TA!

then on the second step what is your product line! are you targeting specifically! because these are things which is very essential to know.

wordofmouthguru, you make a good point about our current brand equity. I can safely say that there's not much equity in it within the DJ market - it's a LOT more valuable to us as a parent branding. That said, the old branding will be part of the new branding, in a similar way our other service lines are branded. Check out www.o-vation.com.au for more about our group.

    How about O-DJs.com or O-DJs.com.au?

As I have already explained, the "old name" is to be supplemented by the new one, not replaced. The DJ side of the company isn't big at all, dealing mostly with venues, so we would not lose clients as most of our DJ clients have also used at least one of our other services. The O-vation name will continue to be part of the new DJ branding, in the form "(Service Name) by O-vation" or "O-vation (Name Goes Here)", as is every other service provided by the Group.

My business partner's original intention was for the name "O-vation" to be synonymous with DJing, in the same way that groups like Mobydisc (our biggest competitor) are associated with DJing. That's no longer possible, since the O-vation name is now associated with our other services.
