Need Help With This Media Question..please

Which of the following is an argument against the charge that advertisers control the media?

1) The most effective strategy for media is to allow itself to be influenced by advertisers.

2) The media needs advertisers more than any individual advertisers need the media.

3) Many media have a narrow base of advertiser support and cannot afford to lose advertisers who attempt to exert control over them.

4) To retain public confidence, the media must report the news fairly without showing any bias or attempt to avoid controversial topics.

5) All of the listed choices are arguments against the charge that advertisers control the media.

    I think the answer is 4.

    Since you are a student, you might want to go through a process of elimination exercise. An answer strategy that works if the right answer does not jump out at you. Read each answer carefully and you will find you can toss each answer except for 4.

    I think an argument would go more along the lines of, 'Well, your boss pays your salary. Does he/she control you?' [To some extent] 'Well, that's just how it works. They who control the funding control the media. If private people are willing to start paying a heck of a lot more for their media to be advertising-free, they can control it. Until then, it is what it is.'
