Length Of Client Agency Relationship

We are looking for facts about advertising agencies, specifically the length in years of most client-agency relationships; the number of agencies who are 50 years and older; the number of agency start ups per year, etc. Any factual help or sources will be greatly appreciated.

Speaking from the client side, I can say the reason most client agency relationships end is because of lack of consistent communication and a clear vision of who is doing what. We have had agency relationships that lasted more than five years and are still going and others that lasted less than three years. Generally changes in the marketing management at a firm may bring changes in the agency. New marketing guys and gals always think they have a better agency than the current relationship or bring along a pre-existing relationship to their new firm.
