E-business Strategy

Hi all,

I'm the owner of a website (www.motocrossvirtual.com) which is a virtual manager game based on the Motocross World Championship.

That began 4 months ago as a game to play with friends and sport involved people, but since them there are more than 1500 registered users and around 12000 visits. I know that it's not a very spectacular statistic, but it hadn't any kind of publicity or marketing, except for talking about it with friends at some message boards.

Now it's close to the end of the season, and I would like to try to make something bigger for the next year.
I have some ideas, as Premium services for premium users (statistics, etc.), sponsorships, earn money keeping good results week to week, etc.

I'm very new to marketing and how to promote my site. I've thought about some viral videos, etc. but I really haven't knowledge about marketing.

My questions are
- Do you think it's possible to find sponsors in the sport involved to make my ideas possible and the site profitable?
- If yes, Who can help me to find them? Which is the first step to find sponsorship and begin to prepare next season? Maybe make a media plan and send to potential sponsors?
- One of my problems is to maintain the audience the days there are no races. Should I install a forum to help users to communicate and keep going on? If yes, should it replace my actual blog there?

Thanks in advance!

To make money from your site, either obtain sponsorship, sell advertising, or use a service like AdSense.

Finding sponsorship will take you time and work to identify companies that want to have their message on your site. A strong sponsorship will help both companies.

Selling advertising is more generic (for example, https://www.momtycoons.com/earning/selling-advertising.shtml). You'll still have some choice in deciding which companies advertise on your site, but will still need to create the proper advertiser kit.

Finally, AdSense is quickest/easiest (but may produce the least revenue).

As for traffic - you need to give people a reason to come back. Perhaps you can replay races from the past, show videos, etc.

It would definitely be wise to get sponosrship from big motorcross names and to get them to promote the site to their lists. At this stage you should be concentrating on ramping up your usership. Once you get a large number of users --- then leverage banner ads or advertising on the game.
