Best Subject Line To Entice Folks To Take Poll?

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
I'm seeking input from folks who do a lot of polls through email notifications. Any great tips on the most compelling subject line? We can include the nature of the poll, or what we're seeking their input on, but should I call it out as a poll as well? Or add anything else? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

I try to use more creative subject lines to get them to open the email..

"If you could say one thing..."
"I hear what you are saying..."

    I've used

    "One click poll"

    "single response poll"

etc to indicate the time it takes to participate. We get great response rates from these. Of course, you have to word the questions very well in that case.

Last time we did an email poll of our customers we offered an enticement. We did an A/B test. Half of those who participated got a $5 Amazon certificate and the other half got entered into a drawing for an Ipod.

Not sure if you want to go that direction but a reward or drawing can be an good enticement...

When I've had to do surveys and polls, unless it's to a very small group who are already interested in participating, I usually pick an item to give away (iPod, GPS unit) by drawing and make that the subject line-- 'We want your opinion - win an iPod!'

Figure out why they should help you (what's in it for them?). Are you trying to get information for a policy decision? Are you thinking of offering a new product/service that they desperately need?

The subject lines would vary based on what's the concept that you wish to project. Also, based on the type of industry / audience that you are reaching out to. However, below are few samples that might help....

10 Seconds Can make you Popular.
    Just a Minute Survey.
    Do people value your opinion?
When was the last time you were heard?
