When Mercedes Benz decided to build its new M Class off-road vehicle, it decided to build it and launch it in the USA. The head of Mercedes USA knew that at its launch, it would be entering a crowded market, and that the mere fact that it was a Mercedes would not guarantee sales. They had to try something different.

    Interestingly, the M-Class 320 and 430 are not as popular as some of the other off-road vehicles. For enthusiast there were problems with its limited ability to handle heavy-duty terrain. The gas tank was way to low, even though its gas tank could take a beating (maybe due to the polyurethane used in its making).

    The design was lackluster as compared to Toyota's FJ Cruiser or even the Toyota Land Cruiser which won the award in 2008 for its off-road ability. You are right to assume that while the Mercedes name means quality, more research needed to be done on its competitors and the ML off-road vehicle either repositioned as a light-off-road vehicle or design modifications made for it to compete against better marketed vehicles. I would love to help if possible.

    We had all the C Class and E Class models in the last 20 years...we never even considered Mercedes to be an option for a SUV...

    That’s an awfully interesting thing to know, but they are still crap in comparison to my Range Rover.

    Gary is being a bit hash – if the poor student can’t even formulate a proper question, he’s not going to pass his exam-y-whammy’s.
