Marketing "research Math" - What Is It?

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
So I'm trying to fogure out the math I see every once in a while in the AMA's Journal of Marketing. Do you get it? I think I undersatnd things pretty well, and then I look at the formulas and they are utter gibberish to me.

I've three years of calculus under my belt, but still can't figure them out. Certain constants like t and x are pretty obvious.

I have a buddy that graduated with an MBA from one of the ivy's and he's puzzled too. If I didn't know any better I's swear they're making this stuff up.

Primer anyone? Or, perhaps a good place to start? Typically there aren't any keys in the articles either that would help give it some context.

    Randy,

I'd be glad to give you an explanation, but I'd need an example of what you mean. Can you send me a link? Or you can fax me - find my fax number on my website - which you can find in my profile. Click on my name above the posting.
