What Gift Can I Give To My Team On My Exit?

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
This question is different.

I was leading a team of 14 members for the last one year in a technology company. This was the first time I was leading a team and most of the members in my team were working for the first time in their lives.

The team jelled very well together and we performed wonderfully. I must add I was very informal with my team-mates and we were more of like friends and family in there.

Now I have accepted another job somewhere and my last day here is approaching fast. It is getting very emotional for me and I know it is the same for them as well.

I want to gift my team something which they can remember for a long time and which symbolize the way we have worked together in the last one year.

I want you to bounce off any crazy ideas you may have. They will be planning a farewell for me and I want to give them something on the occasion.

This is a crazy question to ask, but I want you guys to come up with some ideas that will make an impact. The gift need not be something physical, it can be something and anything that they can remember the great time we had together in the last one year.

Thanks in advance

I suggest you provide them with a party where you provide some very well thought out and specific words about the strengths of each and every one of them....

    I like Frank's idea.

Words of advice, but also specifics of what you like that the person is doing well. Most people don't compliment others nearly often enough.

Also maybe a statement saying if they need help, a reference, etc., to feel free to contact you.

So make sure you give contact info that works once you leave (like a personal email address).

Write them each a personal letter, detailing a specific shared experience that you treasured and why.
