Car Door Magnet Ad That Will Hook The Reader

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I've decided to try the car door magnet advertising. Business is twofold: (1) online travel booking to 5-star destinations, with red carpet treatment at 2&3-star prices; (2) network/referral/viral marketing with online travel sites for supplemental/replacement income.

Objective is to attract both consumers and business partners for team building. I don't want to say the same ole thing [i.e., Be an online travel agent! or Need extra income?] I want to say something short & direct that captures the soul of the public. I will not be listing our website as I want to speak directly with responders.

Does something like "Travel 5-Star Destinations at 2-Star Rates! Prosper, Live & Give!" do that? It's been said that I'm making people think too much with my other ideas.

This may be more to the point:

Enjoy 5-Star for the cost of 2-Star

The rule of thumb for car door copy is to use only five to seven words. Beyond that, nobody will read the copy. So Levon has a good suggestion.

Maybe shorten it even more with:

    5-star travel, 2-star rates

    good luck

People will only see your magnet when: you're parked or you're stopped. Of those that can/will read it, what % of those are your target market? What % of those will be motivated to contact you?

You can try the experiment, but I'm doubtful that you'll get many leads from it.

You have two separate messages (perhaps targeted to the some of the same people).

    Ideas:
    * Travel In Style, For Much Less
    * Online Travel Agency Is Recruiting

Phil, thank you for your candor. The phone # would be listed, just not the website.

Pointers from all responses well received.

I too do not think that a car magnet is a great way to advertise. I think they are most apprpriate for a business like landscaping, house cleaning, contractors, food delivery, etc where you might want people to see the job you are doing. For a business that does not need to be mobile and do work "on site" somewhere, I think they are ineffective.

I would focus on making a top notch website and making sure that you get top ranking in search engines. Unfortunately, you are in a very competitive market. Currently, people don't seem to use travel agencies much, but go straight to the internet to do their travel shopping. Your best chance for success is if people find you on the internet while making travel plans.

If really wnat to do car advertising, you might want to consider doing window stickers (decals) or something that looks a little more upscale than the magnet.

    Hope this helps,
    Mike
