Need Help On How To Pick A Website Name L

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I am a physician who after 10 yrs of practicing traditional medicine, with patient prodding, have introduced some complementary medicine into my practice and will be starting a website selling a particular line of supplements and with information on a weight loss plan that I particularly like and recommend.
I need to name the website and would just use my name, but I do not want my name attached to it (don't want colleagues to know about this as alternative medicine is still not well accepted in academia, where I work).
My question is what are some things that I should consider in picking a name? Do I want one that is really easy for patients to remember and common, or something that is wordier or more professiona? l I want it to sound professional, and so don't want to use shortened terms ie Health4U" I would rather do "health foryou" if I were to do that.
I have a huge list of names I can use, but am confused as to how to pick wisely. For instance, I was looking at integrativehealth.nutrametrix.com, but then a friend told me it may be too difficult to spell for some people, so then I wonder if it should be simpler....Also, the name will go on a business card and I don't want it to sound unintelligent.

Also, the website will end in Nutrametrix.com, if that helps,
I appreciate any help, as I know very little about marketing!!

(Aside: you're not looking for a domain name, you're looking for a sub-domain name of Nutrametrix.com)

Also, you might consider a domain name like: NutraHealth.com, which can redirect people to your Nutrametrix.com subdomain

As for a subdomain name, shorter is better in this case. You want the URL to be easily read by tired eyes.

Shorter is better. You want to give people the best chance of getting it spelled correctly and remembering it.

Phil's suggestions are all good. It is important to type them and represent them the way he did. Domain names do not care about capitalization, but the capitals are very helpful for people. They are much more likely to remember them and spell them correctly if you capitalize the firs letter of each name. The only time that capitalization must be correct is after /.

    Here are some more.

    HealthyLiving
    LiveHealthy
    GreatHealth
    MoreHealth
    Health

I do like Phil's suggestion of BetterHealth. It was the first thing I thought of before I read his list. Phil, I would have had it if I were in and earlier timezone :-).

    Hope this helps,
    Mike

It is a good idea to have words that people might search for in your domain name. I do not know if this is a big deal with subdomains. You are really looking for sub domain as the domain name is NutraMetrix.com.

In regards to asking a question please do. Are best advice tends to occur when the original poster is involved in the thread.

Remember that both people and search engines have to find your domain.

Keep it simple but remember the SEO rules.

    good-health-today.com

separate your words with hyphens and the search engines will read the words as a whole sentence or read the words individually.

LiveHealthy won't work because the searchee would have to type this exactly but if you use

live-healthy the serch engines can easily find it.

Don't forget also that once you own a domain, you can have unlimited sub domains so you can make up many pages and categories for different product lines.

    ie: healthy-today.com

    Sub domains

    live.healthy-today.com
    work.healthy-today.com
    eat.healthy-today.com

    etc. etc.

    or even.

    nutritious-meals.healthy-today.com

This is great for your search traffic because if anyone searches any one of the words or parts of the sentence, you will get a hit.

Use clean simple 'natural' language in your domain name, not made up words like Nutrametrix which means absolutely nothing to people or search engines :))

    Good luck,

    Matthew
