How To Attract Clients For New Web Design Company

Posted by Anonymous on 25 Points
Hi,
We are a start-up web design and development company and we are trying to find out innovative ways to attract new customers. Should we go the email based marketing route or shall we use plain old cold calling methodology. If any one can suggest any other methods that would be a great help.

Cheers,
vj

Be sure to draw the distinction between attracting new customers and prospecting for potential customers. To prospect for potential customers ask yourself what your company stands for (what is your positioning), and subsequently what is your niche, if any.

Take your niche and start writing down a list of companies in that category. Prepare some information about what your company is about and what you can do for your clients and send it to the appropriate people at those companies. Don't pick any one specific way to send it. Different situations call for different tactics. However, always follow up with the people you sent the info to. Make sure to provide links to your portfolio and be prepared to clearly state why your company is different. Keep in mind that web designers and developers are everywhere.

ummmm... I don;t mean to be harsh, but you're a WEB DESIGN company and you're going to use COLD CALLING?

Shouldn't a web design company be able to use the web to generate customers? Like using SEO? And a blog? And some social media? Inbound marketing?

I think the only kind of company you should hire based on a cold call would be a cold calling company...

Maybe start with a free evaluation of your website in www.WebsiteGrader.com and make sure you are getting a good score. Otherwise why would anyone hire you?

While I agree with mvolpe's comments, you certainly should be able to use your core competencies to generate customers, something is left out.

Business owners that are already savvy enough to use a search engine, blogs and social networking sites to find out how to improve their websites, more than likely already have a pretty solid web presence.

Truth be told, many business owners, and I suppose I am talking about about small to mid-size businesses, have very little idea about the power and scope of the web. The point is by using the web to promote the web you are missing out on people who have no idea of what the web is.

Use a combination of all of the aforementioned tactics and you are on your way.
