Resource To List An Event For Free

Posted by Anonymous on 100 Points
Are there any really good resources to list an event. I had really good luck in Australia listing my event on the local govt city website. Is there a listing or resource of sites to list an upcoming event. Let's say the event is a musician clinic for children which teaches them how to play and record music.

    Interesting venture!

    Use social media, e.g., Twitter

    https://twitter.com/

Marketingprofs.com has lots of interesting articles about the use of social media.

And IF you have enough lead time, send a news release to your local press to create awareness and start the buzz.

I guess it depends a lot on the specific situation of your location for what means you have available to promote this events.

As suggested by vlytsman, distribute a press release targeting 2 different groups: parents, and children too!! Dont forget to make the press release newsworthy, add a twist to it.

Moreover, print down fliers and distribute them to schools, music stores and newstands.

    Wish you best of luck,

It's free to post things on upcoming.yahoo.com, and I've had events there get picked up by Google and then found/attended by people who never would have thought to go to the Upcoming site.

My local media (newspaper and the local network television) have "community calendars" that are free to post events. If you accompany that with a good press release, the television stations are likely to announce it on-air as a featured upcoming event. The ones on the newspaper website also get printed in the paper. (Again, if accompanied by a good press release could get a writeup and probably press coverage at the event.)

If you or someone associated with the event are on Facebook or MySpace they have great events tools and you can choose to list them in a public event listing. Certainly use all the social media tools you can-- announce it on your blog, tweet it, etc. (Warning: Only if you have those things in place already.)

I also echo Davide's suggestion to print fliers or brochures and distribute them in appropriate locations.

    Good luck!

There may also be industry specific event lists. The one for my industry (in the US) is called "Local Wine Events" (localwineevents.com). They offer free listings for wine events all over the country.

There may be something similar for you.
