I would recommend reading the Marketing Profs site and even consider becoming a Premium Plus member, as there are is a lot of good content, including articles, online seminars, etc., that would provide a good marketing education if you were persistent at it. Here is some information on Marketing Profs Membership options.

Second, go to Amazon or Powell's Books and do a search for marketing books. If you read reviews and how people rated the books, it won't take long to find a good marketing primer or two.

Since marketing is probably too complex a topic to distill into a single forum posting, I think my advice above is probably your best best.
