Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
Hello All,
I am new to this forum. A little bit about me.

Years of Full time professional experience: 5 years
Employers: 1) Accenture, 2) Hewlett Packard
Clients Handled: 1) Clorox, U.S.A 2) P&G, Western Europe 3) XM Radio, U.S.A, 4) New South Wales Government (Australia)
International Experience : Indian (Base), Paris, Rome, Stockholm and Brussels
Industry Exposure: Consumer, Communication, public sector
Expertise: Customer Relationship Management.
Current Position: Team Leader
Designation: Senior Consultant
Loads of Extra currics.
Previous MBA admit experience: Krannert, Smeal, Boston College,
Duke and Tuck (Waitlisted)

I didnt take the admits because I wasnt given scholarship and I followed my heart that I could easily press for the top 5 at a later point in my life.

As at this juncture, I look for a career in marketing, I am clear abt doing MS in Marketing and find it more advantageous than MBA. I have done good ground work about the universities, but in vain. All I could find was Texas A&M, NYU, Rochester and few others.

I request you to provide information abt some very good universities synonymous to Marketing and which offers a specialized Masters Degree. Please help me, if you could. Let this be the launch pad for me.

Grazie!

    Hello there,

you may want to have a look at www.bournemouth.ac.uk
it is in the UK though. It is right now the best u can find in the UK for Marketing and has the largest Media School in the country. They have just been ranked by the Guardian for UK universities 2009 ranking, the No1.new UK University.

    Good luck with that.

    Hello ngoufonja,

    Thank you for the response.

While I really appreciate your time to get the suggestion for me, it would be great/helpful to know more about the US universities.

Despite your commitment to an MS in Marketing, I think you'd be better served from a career standpoint by getting an MBA with a concentration in Marketing. And I think Krannert would be ideal for what you want. They offer the MSIA degree (as well as the MBA) and they have an excellent marketing department (especially for B2B).

Full disclosure: I hold an MSIA from Krannert. (It has served me well, as far as I can tell.)

Thank you very much for sharing the information.

Right now, for me - MBA is a huge commitment financially. I have saved the option of MBA at a later point of time in my career. Right now, I need some heavy concentration in Marketing and I thought a specialized degree would ideally suit.

I went through the MS IA degree course structure and I must admit that it is impressive.

However naive I sound, I go by degrees which has the word 'Marketing'. Little did I realized that an MS IA degree could offer such wonderful curriculum in Marketing.

Pls advice, I am closing in on the university selection for FALL 2009.

    1) Medill IMC
    2) Krannert MS IA
    3) Texas A&M MS (Marketing)
    4) Simon School of Business MS (Marketing)

Disclosure: Its with such great appreciation that I say that 2 out of the 4 choices (Krannert/Medill) above are purely because of what I found in this site.

Please advice if I need to opt for any other universities. I need to take this plunge sooner than later.
