Looking For Failed Marketing Campaign To Criticise

Posted by Anonymous on 25 Points
Hello dears,

I am looking for a recent failed marketing campaign (in the last 12 months) for a paper i am writing, and was wondering if any of you could give me a hint. I have to criticise that campaign and propose a different one. So i would be glad if i can have something or a website where i will find some details concerning the campaign thank you all.

Personally I think the worldwide HP "The computer is personal again" campaign is a waste of time and money. The idea is to load the HP brand in a way that it change into a lifestyle products like Apple but at the end it is just a standard PC running Windows that looks very much like al the other PC's running Windows.

They don't control the channels in a way needed to roll out the campaign to the end (like apple does with their apple stores) and the bottom line is that pc's and printers are commodities with thin margins and suppliers has to be good in moving boxes. HP controls what components are used the PC's but they run with software of another company (microsoft) and they don't have the power to put any control over microsoft.

This are just some arguments but you could write a book about this campaign

    Thanks for your answer,

It was helpful to me but i have decided to go for another one because now the Lecturer just wants us to criticaly analyse any campaign, using brand prizm and making recommendations for that campaign.
