Planning To Pursue A Phd In Marketing

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Hello,
I am an assistant marketing researcher in the field of Cause Related Marketing, Co-Branding and Affinity Marketing. I am deeply interested to do a PhD in order to pursue a career in academics on my completion.
I am interested in the area on NPO Marketing-CRM, Affinity Marketing, Fair Trade Marketing.
I plan to do a PhD in the subject of Fair Trade Marketing, however, I am not very sure if this field/subject perhaps would be the best option, or if I should remain in the area of CRM instead.
I perhaps am looking for some advice/suggestions in order to start writing my letter of motivation for a PhD...
Any kind of expert advice/guidance or suggestions, all are welcome!

Thank you to all in advance,
P.S.-I live in France and am looking to do my PhD from a university here.

I am sorry you have not gotten much help yet. You are asking a difficult question. It seems to me that you are asking us what your own interests are, or possibly you are asking us if it is more important to get a Ph.D. in a field which is interesting to you or to get a Ph.D. in a more marketable field.

I'm sorry, I do not know what fair trade marketing is, but I assume it has something to do with international marketing. It seems to me that international marketing related topics would be of much greater value than CRM related topics.

I know a great many folk who are quite expert at CRM, and you have specialized in the field for many years, but I do not know of a single person who is earning what they feel they deserve in area of CRM.

One way you could continue your research would be to research past questions on this forum related to CRM and you fair trade marketing. There is a search function on this site but I prefer to use Google. For example, you can find all the comments related to CRM by googling the following:

    crm site:marketingprofs.com/ea

    Good luck to you.
