Well, the basic first start would be to get set up with blog software. The easiest route would be to use something like blogger.com, which handles most everything for you. Or you can get your own server and load software (like typepad).

Then you need to get the content. The easiest route would be to look at the stuff that is already available online and link to it from your site (call it reviews, so you don't get people thinking it is your content). There is a variety of content on many subjects put out by expertvillage (https://www.youtube.com/user/expertvillage) and eHow (https://www.youtube.com/user/eHow).

if you decide to make your own, you'll need a camera and basic editing software on your computer.

I'd suggest that you set up a blog at one of the blog sites -- like www.wordpress.com -- first. Get the hang of blogging first.

Then make an initial video and put it up on YouTube or one of the other sites ... just to learn what's involved in that simple process. You can link to the YouTube video from your blog.

Once you are comfortable with the system/process, you can either embed the video (from YouTube) into your blog, or you can check out other platforms that will work better for you. Some are free, some cost a bit.

Best if you can learn the ropes with free sites before you decide what you need and how much you're willing to pay.

Here is an article on embedding videos in Wordpress, a popular blogging tool mentioned above: https://en.blog.wordpress.com/2007/02/05/4-new-ways-to-embed-video/.

And directions to add videos in blogger, another free blogg site, www.blogger.com: https://help.blogger.com/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=67428.

    Hope this helps.

Do you already have a camera? If not, look into getting a Flip or a Flip Mino, both are very inexpensive (around $125-150 on Amazon), and I believe they allow you to upload directly to YouTube. I would go ahead and create an account on YouTube before you get started, and upload your videos there. Then after you launch your blog, make sure you add at least a link to your YouTube account so people can see your videos. Finally, as you continue blogging, I would consider embedding the most popular videos (just 1 or 2) directly onto the blog's sidebar. All you will need to do is change the dimensions of the video width and height from the code YouTube gives you to embed the video.

BTW I think this is a great idea, and that using videos to show how to do simple projects around the house is a GREAT way to establish your expertise. I would definitely move forward with this as I think you are onto a good idea!
