Retail Manager To Assistant Brand Manager

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
I am a retail merchandising manager in one of the big box companies that is interested in switching careers to an assistant brand manager.

Before going into retail I manage to obtain college diplomas in Media Communications and another diploma in graphic design & advertising.

My current position does require me to formulate a monthly business plan that is based on specified merchandising and sales targets which I have been able to show profitable results. Also I have Applied the four Ps of marketing to merchandising to suggest new products with better prices and location with in the store for certain promotions.

Would any of this be transferable to the position of Assistant Brand Manager? If so what how would I show this in a resume considering I don't have any real Marketing agency experience?

I would scour Assistant Brand Manager openings on Monster and other such sites to get a good idea of what specific skills are required/requested of an Assistant Brand Manager and determine what skills you possess that are transferable to the skills required.

I'm noticing bachelor's requirements is pretty much a standard requirement (MBA preferred) in a lot of the openings I have reviewed along with a myriad of other skil sets.
