I am looking for suggestions on a marketing campaign for a free online real estate classified ad service for my local community

    Who benefits: buyers or sellers (or both)?
    How do you make your $ (selling ad space on the site?)
    What sort of budget do you have?
    What makes your site better than Craigslist or even https://realestate.yahoo.com?

    It community is not that familiar with the major sites lioe craigslist although some realtors use them for a web presence. Buyers can go search local ads and sellers can post for free. I will sell ads. I am working on inexpensive marketing to build up property posts before I try to sell asdspace

    You need to get a lot of listings online before ads. I would approach local real estate agents and get them to post there listings.

    You need to offer a system that is easy to navigate and provides all the necessary info. The big trick will be to make sure you get a high listing in search engines when googling real estate in your community. This will be tricky as it is a very competitive market.

    Dear Brad,

    I would suggest that since you are building the website for your local community, you keep the marketing local too.

    As suggested by Mike, your first step would be to get plenty of listings. You should approach all the major real estate companies and agents in your area and offer them free listings on your website. If any of the companies do not have an online presence as yet, offer to build them a mini-site on your domain where they can direct their clients to view all their available properties in one place. This way you can get some free marketing/promotion for your site in exchange of some work to set up their sites.
