Tagline For A Small Travel Agency

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
I have been an independent travel agent for over 14 years, selling many different products. I now want to specialize. The name of my company is Distinctive Destinations. The countries I want to focus on selling are China, Kenya, and South Africa. I will continue to sell other products if an existing clients asks, e.g. for a cruise, an all-inclusive resort, etc., but I won’t be promoting these products.

I have selected these three countries because I have been designated an expert by these various governments based on their own criteria. For South Africa, I’m listed on their website. (If you go to https://www.southafrica.net you’ll see a box on the left to find an expert.) I have other “specialist” designations, such as for the Caribbean, Club Med, etc., but really don’t consider myself an expert, compared to other travel agents in my region.

There are no other agencies promoting themselves as experts in these 3 countries that I know of.

I not only plan trips for clients, but I escort groups too. For the past 3 years I’ve escorted groups ranging in size from 20-85 to China. I want to do more of this.

I want an image that tells strangers that I am good at what I do, competent, that I will take them seriously, give them attention, and will work for them (and not just try to sell a company that is a "preferred supplier”). There are many travel agents out there selling similar products and companies. I want the message to say that I will save them time, provide experience, provide a level of unbiased advice and expertise, and provide a travel product customized to their particular needs, if they work with me. I always put quotes in writing, and give people more information and service than they expect. I am clear when quoting prices as to whether the price includes all taxes/fees, or whether those are additional.

I have been struggling with a tagline, and can’t get past something lame like “your personal travel planner”. I love the name of my agency, and need something that goes hand-in-hand with Distinctive Destinations. I would appreciate any help!

I realize that you're looking for two or three words that summarize the brief you gave us, but that's close to impossible. However, I would definitely put all of that in your marketing materials.

How about this twist? "Distinctive Destinations" already implies region exclusivity. I think that your tagline truly needs to be a PAYOFF. What do you get from a Distinctive Destination vacation? What do your clients come away with? Tap into their feelings. This vacation should be exclusive, once-in-a-lifetime, rewarding, eye-opening, etc. Below are just a few off the top of my head.

    Distinctive Destinations
    The vacation of your life.

    Distinctive Destinations
    The once-in-a-lifetime vacation.

    Distinctive Destinations
We plan it, you live it.

You stated you are interested in creating an image with certain qualities. This goes far beyond a tagline. A tagline by itself will not instill the values you wish to exude.

In my opinion, you need a Branding strategy and a professional to look over your logos, brochures, current ads and mediums, etc. THIS is what you nee in order to achieve your goals...not a fancy tagline (although a good one helps).

I would like to extend the offer for you to contact me in order to discuss this project in greater detail and get started on a professional "work-up". (Just click on my name for my email address).

Someone very dear to me has been in travel for over 20 years and one of my first entrepreneurial efforts was an online travel agency which lasted approx 2 1/2 years...so I am very familiar with the industry.

I look forward to helping you!

    hi Kathy

    how about this-

    "Distinctive Destinations -
    Your Exclusive Panda/Safari/Diamond Travel Expert."

Panda/Safari/Diamond are the 3 most distinctive associations people have with China/Kenya/South Africa.

    cheers!
