Growth Prospects As Sales Coordinator

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
Hi Friends,

I am concerned about my future as a sales coordinator in an Indian MNC. I am an MBA and having around 2 years of experience in channel sales as an Assistant Manager . I am passionate about sales and willing to know about what be my growth prospects as sales coordinator.

I experienced that the profile is more of a supportive in nature where their is no direct value or volume targets. I missed directly to interacts with the customers.

I just want to know what be the best alternative for me? whether its the right step for me to get involve in the sales supportive role ? or I should be in the channel sales.

will my experience as a Sales coordinator add value to my personal profile. whether its possible to go back into sales after having few years of experience as coordinator.

waiting for your honest response.

Thanks

Jatin

    Hi Paul

A dedicated team be assigned to a particular division consisting of a Head and sales team where one sales coordinator is assigned who is responsible to add flexibilty in the sales functions.

After having an experience u may get a charge to handle two or more divisions or supervising a group of sales coordinator.
But the decisive power and strategic role resides with the head only.

I am concerned about,How its possible for me to add value quantitatively in the main stream business of the company.

    Jatin,

Support roles often lead to management roles. Do you want to manage....or sell?

If you want to sell, then start looking elsewhere for a position that allows you to sell. I was a sales manager at age 25. Hated it. Training and paperwork and interviewing and meetings. Never went back. Never accepted positions offered.

YOU have to make that choice.

    Jatin,
In poor econonomic times those who have the greatest customer interaction survive. Unfortunately, the others often do not.

Here are a couple of questions to ask yourself:
Is the success of my work easily measured? if you you are in good position.

If the answer is no, you need to measure your company's dedication to the products you are responsible for.

It is of course very difficult for us to give accurate advice, since we know very little about you. But it sounds to me as though you would enjoy a sales role more than a sales support role.

One thing you might do is to either borrow or buy a book on professional sales. As you read the book, you may discover you are more interested in the sporting functions or in the sales functions themselves.

In the US, there is traditionally more risk with a sales job, but the potential rewards are much higher.
