Single Exponential Smoothing

Posted by Anonymous on 50 Points
I must use single exponential smoothing method, but do not know how? Actual values were only given in the exam task for 10 years (f.ex. in 1965--was 247,in 1966-236, in 1967-205...) but I have not got the forecasted values for previus/prior periods(years), how can I calculate this method? As I know for this (SES) it's necessary three data: 1) actual values 2) Forecasted values of prior-previus periods(years) and a constant alpha (I choose 0.3) I calculated Forecasted values for previuos years according to Weighted moving average method and then I calculated SES method using actual values and Previous Forecasted values (WMA method) f.ex.SES(1966)=Forecast Value(1965)+0.3 (Actual1965-Forcas 1965), Am I right?
Thanks in advance!!! Natia
