Looking For Comapny Name/tagline Ideas

Posted by Anonymous on 500 Points
Ok, we are looking at starting a new home service company (plumbing, heating, electric), and need a name and tagline. Most importantly is a good name. We will be focusing on residential repair and replacement services. It is not possible to use our last name and I want a name that i will be able to register the domain name for without any mixups.

At first we are going to be offering plumbing services only but in the future I want it to work for other home services as well. We are looking into some ideas that will make us different to reflect inthe name but for starters we are going to b efocused on quality service, not necessarily cheap. We are also looking into like same day guaranteed service as well.

I am looking to get this done in a hurry and would appreciate any ideas.

Thanks
Alex

Alex, I think we can help you, but first we need some information.

Most important: Who is your primary target audience? Where do they live? Do they live in apartments, condos or single-family homes? Are they in a suburban setting, big city or rural (etc.)? Are they mostly owners or renters? Young or old? DIYers or DIFMs on most things? Male or female?

Next, how do they learn about plumbers? Is it mostly WOM or mostly internet searches or mostly ValPak (et al.)? How do they make the decision on which plumber to hire?

Then your positioning: What makes you different from and better than the other plumbers in the area? What unique benefit do you provide that might appeal to your target audience?

If we have that information, we can begin to come up with a great name for you (and a great tagline to go with it).

P.S. Suggestion for your website (and for the new one): Let people know WHERE you work right on the home page. If a site visitor is not from Cincinnati, they could spend a lot of time on your site before they realize you can't help them! And even if someone from Northern Kentucky shows up, how would they know if you can serve them or not?

Leet me try to cover it all here...

The primary audience is women 25-50 homeowners, middle-upper income levels. We will work on rentals, appartments, condos, and commercial, but primarily we are shooting for single family homes. We are in Cincinnati which is a city area with a large suburban area. We do not want DIYers.

A lot of the business is WOM and internet. There is still a small percentage uing yellow pages but mostly it is moving over towards internet. Direct mail is also a big call generator as well.

What makes us better? We have the best warranties, and best technicians. Obviously anyone can say that so we are also looking at some other stategies such as:

Same day service guaranteed or its free.
    Service within an hour.
    100% money back guarantee.
and more... this is a star up so we can really offer anything that might make sense and make us stand out. Our main thing though is we are not the cheapest but we are the best.

    Phil,

One other note... we do do about 15% commercial work as well so I don't want to alienate those customers form callign us by making them think we only do homes.

"Care Taker" followed By "We Never Say 'No' "

    For the tag:

How about using Phil's tag and slightly augmenting it to read:

"For results you can take to the sewer"

If youre upscale, why not try things like 'GoldRepair' or something along those lines, with a pay off around your distinctive services, like i.e. 'The standard you'd expect'

I think this question is strictly connected with English language, local (US) thesaurus and local culture too just as in international marketing situation. I understand that have the keywords in domain name is the more fast way to make the search engine indicize the other way to choose a correct name can be to supply a name easy to remember and that have reference with the plumber. Maybe is possible to use a international name or other language name. I really cannot know what the US people will think about a JoeThePlumber name? Maybe is possible to include in the name what this special customer segment wish in the service as RationalPlumber
