Where To Host A Video

Posted by Peter (henna gaijin) on 500 Points
I have had a video posted for a client on Google Video for a while, but unfortunately their automated content identification tool has tagged it as copyrighted material (it is not) and the automated appeals process they have seems to have gone unanswered/un-noticed. I have heard this about Google - when things work, everything is great. But have any problems, and you are basically screwed as there isn't any customer service. But off of that...

My client is an importer from Japan. The video was made by their supplier in Japan and shows the manufacturing process. It was professionally made for uses such as on he web, at trade shows, etc. It is about 60 megabytes in 640x480 by 15fps.

I used Google Video over Youtube, because at the time I posted it, Youtube didn't handle higher resolutions as well. Now they are the same company, so presumably I can't use Youtube either.

Looking for a place to re-post the video. Would like a free site that, similar to youtube or Google video, provides a player that lets people view the video from within our web site. And being it is going on my client's web site, don't want ads showing up. Any suggestions?

    Hi Peter,

Have you looked at www.Vimeo.com and [deleted by moderator] ?

They both have a loyal following and have some nice tools you can work with.

Both of them also have a premium offering - I know you said free but they are worth looking at if ever needed:

    https://www.vimeo.com/plus (nominal cost)

Let me know if either one works out.

    Dear Peter,

I would recommended blip.tv too. You might also want to try reuploading to youtube - you never know.

    Hope this helps.
