A tagline won't bring people to your website, since most people find a website via a web search. What you need is copy that's compelling to your target market AND to the search engines (SEO). It also needs backlinks from recognized green "authority" sites to boost its page rank.

The subject line of any email should match the content of the email. What is the call to action? If you want them to go to the site to register, or take advantage of a special "green" product or simply announce the site, that's what your subject line should say. The general rule to to try to keep the email length to 35 characters or less but you should alwasy test as that's defintiely not a hard and fast rule.

    I agree with Marco.

If you are providing some relevant information for your email targets, then the subject line should reflect what the information is or what benefits the information will provide.

For example, you could provide an article, white paper, survey results, product reviews ... something that is valuable in itself before you make your sales pitch.

    hope this helps,

Getting them to open the mail is all about the subject line.

Getting the to CLICK ad visit the web site is a different matter.

To get the best subject line, just do some Split testing.

Chooses 2 or 3 possible lines and test them on 5,000 users each. Check the opening rates and then utilise the one with the highest rates.

Once they open the email, then your content or offer should be compelling enough to make them want to click through to the web site in question.

Since you are promoting a directory, I think that email marketing is not the correct avenue for you.

Put your resources into search marketing and Social media such as Face Book and Twitter.

You are all about traffic and gaining awareness for and of your new service.

    Good luck.
