Marketing Thesis Topic In The Field Of...

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Hello everybody!

I am studying Marketing and I have to write a master thesis.
It is hard for me to come up with a relevant topic which is not researched so far and for which i will find enough academic literature.

I find the area of consumers, consumers behavior, online stores, tangible/intangible, hedonic, utilitarian goods interesting. I have read a lot of literature concerning these fields, but I cannot figure out a topic that hasn't been researched and it is interesting and important. In two words I am a bit stuck!

I just need a bit of initial push and help!
Therefore I ask for your help! Could you, please, give me some possible topics for research!

Thank you very much in advance!

Best regards!!!!

    Dear msb23,

You appear to be suffering from analysis paralysis. I feel your pain.

One way out of this fog might be to ask the people you know best what it is they look for in a service, a product, or a packaged good. Price, value, service, guarantee, refund policy, store feel, store look, staff response, the list can be as lengthy and as detailed as you need it to be.

Your interest in consumer behavior could spark all kinds of questions, and the fact that there might be a lack of research
    could actually help you.

How? By you doing your own research. This approach would set you apart from so many of your fellow students because while they're all copying and pasting the same old stuff, you're actually doing something new, something fresh.

On the consumer behavior topic, there are all kinds of questions worth asking: when they have a specific need, problem, or pain point, why do people do the things they do? What drives them? What compels them? What attracts their attention toward their chosen solution and what turns them away from the thing that promises to solve their problems but that somehow falls short
    of the mark?

Another area of consumer behavior is user experience, something that applies equally online and off. You could investigate how the varying elements of the buying process impact the abandonment of the transaction itself.

So, now you have several ideas to bounce around. Where will they take you? The only person that can answer that question is you.

I hope this helps. Good luck to you.
