Choosing Mba Specialiazation

Posted by Anonymous on 25 Points
Hi,

Right now I am doing Executive MBA. For my final semester i need to choose the specialization of the Degree. I bit confused on this.

As a Software Engineer I could select either IT Management or Software Marketing. What will be the best for my career growth?

-Thanks in Advance,
Santosh

    Dear Santosh,

"What will be the best for my career growth?"

The answer to this question rather depends on the make and model of the time machine you'll be using.

Let me ask you another question, this time, something that's rather more sensible (and possibly) future proof.

Software and the systems it runs on are interconnected: one is the chicken, the other is the egg. Technology is the goose that lays the golden eggs.

Although information technology will change, in order to keep the technology running and projecting into the next five years, and the five years after that, and so on, I believe the software systems that run on the technology will change far more swiftly than the technology itself.

I'm suggesting this because it's possible that for computers to become much faster than they will within the next five years (Moore's Law and all that), room temperature super conductors
will need to become available within the same time frame, which
    is possible, but unlikely.

A few years ago I read about developing technology wherein
chip sets could soon be etched onto sheets of synthetic diamond, thereby creating an environment in which much faster chips could run and be free (or at least freer) of friction, and silicon, possibly forever.

How far we've come since then I'm not sure.

But until holographic, biological, and quantum computing
systems become things of reality and not just theoretical, software applications might ... and it's an unknown might ... might just keep the people employed in that field just that little bit ahead of the game.

But as to which is best for you? Only one person can make that decision, and that's you. If all else fails, toss a coin and go for the best of three.

I realize this doesn't answer your question, but in truth no one can know for sure where they'll be a few years from now, and in the end, life will always be a gamble no matter what you do.

Alas, there is only one known quantity, only one certain quality.

    Choice.

    Good luck to you.
