Traffic From Twitter

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
Can someone tell me how you can get Twitter to direct traffic to our site every time the user of twitter uses certain keywords, in our case 'legal advice'

Have heard this can be done with Twitter - and have tried to contact them but no joy

Does anyone know a way in?

    Matthew-

    I'm not sure where you heard this, but I seriously doubt that Twitter would set up a means to hijack users who type in a term and send them to your site.

    If you want to use Twitter for prospecting, I'd set up a Twitter search for people using the term 'legal advice', and then 'tweet' responses to those people with a reference to your site -- but only if it seems appropriate for what they were posting, so you don't appear to be spamming. It takes a bit of work on your site - but it's a social media tool, not an automated advertising tool. (Tools like TweetDeck constantly monitor the searches you set up, so you could constantly check who is using your search term in their tweets.)

    Hi Anne,
    Sorry, bit of a non techy - how would I set up a twitter search?

    I would start from the bottom, we have done this...add your friends and colleages to your twitter followers etc. Then, start tweeting about things in the news, links to articles, etc as the San Antonio "legal Experts' or whereever you are...we are an art gallery and tweet on all subjects like, gorgeous new cinnomin tourmaline in the store, booked 3 custom design projects today, or click here to go to our blog and read our new advice to storing emeralds...come across as the leading expert in your area for your field. Eventually, other people will add on, then you will have a significant following. Add other chamber members or other people you meet at networking events...its amazing how small this large town has become due to tweets! Hope this helps and good luck!

    Matthew-

    I like the Tweetdeck application (available from www.tweetdeck.com) -- If you find the icon at the top that looks like a magnifying glass and enter a search term, it not only does a search, but creates a column that is constantly updated with tweets relevant to that search. I thought that was kind of a cool feature - and now I use Tweetdeck to do nearly everything Twitter rather than the native interface. Of course, I'm not much of a tweeter myself, but I do find all sorts of interesting things!

    here is simple search just to get started.
    * https://search.twitter.com/search?q=legal+AND+advice

    And here is a bit more specific search
    * https://bit.ly/f0lMY
    ** I shortened it because the actual Twitter link was too long
    ** This looks for any tweet with "legal" and "advice" made by someone somewhere within 100 miles of Los Angeles.

    This is how Twitter can be used to listen.

    Next read the Twitter Power Guide from Chris Penn
    * https://www.financialaidpodcast.com/2008/12/24/the-twitter-power-guide-eboo...

    He demonstrates how Twitter as a tool can extend your understanding of the issues important to you (legal advice) and integrate that understanding in your marketing activities (email, web, blog posts, twitter, straight up US mail!).

    Hope this helps,
