Urgent Name Required For Luxury Bespoke Shirt

a. What is your website’s URL (if any)? If no URL, then are you looking for an available domain name that matches the company name? – Well, currently, we have registered, www.thetailormaster.com

b. Who is your target audience? – Our target audience is the people who are interested into bespoke shirts, i.e. Made to Measure (MTM), they will be from the upper middle to high class, the people who will be interested in luxury, and have a taste for MTM shirts.

c. What are the problems that your target audience is facing? – Well, they are not happy with the Ready to wear shirts (RTW), because of many reasons, fit, fabric, their style etc.

d. How do you solve them? – We will be doing everything for them, taking into consideration their tastes. It will be all customized, right from the fabric selection, to the style, monogramming etc.

e. What are your organizational core values? – We work on the principle of providing utmost level of customer care, luxury, quality, and above all commitment, the customer gets double of what he pays

1. Your competition: Who are your competition? – All the websites dealing into Bespoke, namely:

d. www.mytailor.com
e. www.execshirts.com

f. www.brioni.com – As you know, they are most expensive shirt maker in the world, and I can say with pride, if we need to rate us and them on the scale 1:10, if I would rate myself 9, then they would be rated 6 maximum, I really want to capture their market, but this brand building exercise won’t happen overnight, it will take time, but the best part is nothing is impossible in the planet Earth!

g. Hugo Boss – Again big player, but I am really targeting the big fishes!

2. If there are names (for your competition or unrelated businesses), please list them (and say what you personally like about them) – To start with, I need a name, which is easy to remember and pronounce, for example:

a. Brioni – It has several good points, 1. It is short, easy to remember. 2. Can be pronounced easily, and is not a tongue twister, 3. Is not generic name. 4. Sounds bit Italian! – I am not sure, this should be considered while suggesting a name, but maybe you know better. 5. Name sounds very luxurious.

b. Hugo Boss – It has again luxury in itself, and some of the above mentioned factors are also applicable on it.

c. Calvin Klein – This I think is name of the brand owner, but has a luxury feeling in the name.
There can be few other examples, but I think now you can understand my requirement.

3. How will you “know” what name is right for your business? – Well, this is a really hard part, if you like it, I certainly will!

    I will start with your last question first:

    Your answer is not quite correct. It really doesn't matter if I like the name [I have chosen and forwarded to you] or if you, as the company owner love it. After all, aren't we a bit too close to it to be rational with our opinion??? And I may not be one of that target you defined above: Our target audience is the people who are interested into bespoke shirts, i.e. Made to Measure (MTM), they will be from the upper middle to high class, the people who will be interested in luxury, and have a taste for MTM shirts. If I'm not a part of this target, then my opinion doesn't matter much.

    You will know if it's a great name by asking people from your target if it's a great name. You do this through focus group testing and then survey. Forward several options - possibly your favorite and then others you can live with as well - and then let the target give you your answer. This same line of reasoning goes for your item 1f - As you know, they are most expensive shirt maker in the world, and I can say with pride, if we need to rate us and them on the scale 1:10, if I would rate myself 9, then they would be rated 6 maximum...     For a name, you obviously could use an industry name like Hugo Boss or Calvin Klein - if you paid for their name. However, since many people don't know all names in the industry, you could come up with a pseudo "star" - a name that sounds like famous, but isn't:

    Jeorge Bianco (pronounced jzorjze)
    Samual Whentzworth
    Jacques de Riche (jzawk day reesh)

    You could create a legend for the name:

    A man like Jacques de Riche loves the finer things in life - yacht racing, gourmet food, powerful automobiles, and made to measurements shirts. While a picture of Jacques de Riche is not available to anyone, not only can you see his shirts, but you can own one.

    You could create adventures for Jacques through use of newspaper headlines/articles or faux press releases and as you talk about the event, you could describe his shirt:

    Jacques de Riche Wins the Morocco Regatta
    Internationally renown adventurer, Jacques de Riche won the Morocco Regatta by 12 boat lengths in his custom designed Super G hull Islander-36 class boat. And he was stunning on the deck in his made to measure shirt. Custom designed 200 thread-count cotton button down in the new color - Islander Indigo. >/i>

    Please accept my sincere apologies for not answering the last question. But I can assure you this won’t be repeated here.

    You had better LOVE your product, but you aren't the best judge - your opinion doesn't matter much. Your target is the only voice that matters. - Well, I know, I am not a good judge of my product, but I have been doing a survey for the past many months, have got many top - branded MTM shirts, have done precise SWOT analysis and came to the above said conclusion.

    I have given free samples to many of the people I know in my friend circle (whom use Brioni or similar brands), and they were simply impressed.

    Our target audience is the people who are interested into bespoke shirts, i.e. Made to Measure (MTM), they will be from the upper middle to high class, the people who will be interested in luxury, and have a taste for MTM shirts. If I'm not a part of this target, then my opinion doesn't matter much. - I second you on this, I think, I shouldn't classify in that fashion.

    Coming to the pseudo names you have suggested, Jacques de Riche is the most impressive of all.

    Wayde, isn't this is a bit complex name? I mean will people able to remember and pronounce it easily?

    I really loved your idea, but I am not sure, is it legal to promote in the fashion you said, i.e. creating pseudo stories and publishing them in the print media, so if you can shed some light onto it, then that would be brilliant.

    Once again, my sincere apologies for not replying last time, this surely won't happen again.

    I'm glad you have feedback from prospective consumers on the competition and your product. Be careful, however, using people in your "friend circle" as judges too. Might they be biased for you - as they are your friends?

    I don't believe Jacque de Riche is any more complex than Hugo Boss or Calvin Klein or Tommy Hilfiger. While it's not a household name yet, it will should you promote it right. Of course, I used Riche as the last name because it's rich in French. Maybe it should be Jean (pronounced jzawn) de Riche - That would be John of the Rich. John, being a very common name and your line of shirts is for everyone and it makes them feel "of the rich."

    As far as the press releases and news articles - you can do this as ads. People do this in newspapers do this all the time. They put together an ad that looks like an article or press release and across the top above it, they put "This is an advertisement." Of course, you can create viral ads like on Youtube with film of the "event" and a broadcaster reporting in the background. Nothing wrong with this. You could have real events where Jean de Riche is supposed to show - and then at the last minute, he has to cancel. Do it in a mall and hire people to play photographers. Your website could have a press release section for Jean de Riche. There are lots of possibilities.

    Note that I never claimed he was real. from the start, I described him as, "A man like..." Jean de Riche is who every man wants to be.

    Riche Shirts (that way you could implement Jean later)
    Nouveaux Riche Shirts (New rich in French)

    Fit for You Shirts

    The tag line doesn't have to be short as long as it is memerable and conveys a meaning people can relate to.and attitude they would like to adopt. Take a look at these famous tag lines:

    Hallmark: When you care to send the very best
    Zenith: The quality goes in before the name goes on
    GE: We bring good things to life
    Yellow Pages: Let your fingers do the walking
    M&M's: M&Ms melt in your mouth, not in your hand
    Milk: It does a body good
    Dell: Dude, you're gettin' a Dell
    Allstate: You're in good hands with Allstate
    Nationwide: Nationwide is on your side
    Federal Express: When it absolutely, positively has to be there overnight
    UPS: What Can Brown Do For You
    United Airlines: Fly the friendly skies

    The tag line could be shortened a little with as:

    For men who love the finest things

    What do you think of when someone says "the finest things?" Jewellery, wine, gourmet food, table china, luxury furniture, expensive cars, exclusive clubs...

    By saying, Jean de Riche shirts - "For men who love the finest things..." you are guiding their minds to make the tie between your shirts to these images. If you just talk about loving the finest shirts, it's limiting. You want people to buy your shirts because they will feel like a man who loves the finest things in life. I could learn to like "For men who love the finest."

    I don't understand your hesitancy with "love." Is it a language or culture specific thing? If I understand this, I might be able to come up with something. I will share my thoughts as to why it become "love." Instead of love, you could use desire or want...but these are "future" tense. They don't have it, but they sure wish they did. Or you could use enjoy or like - these sound a little weak to me. Like, yes, I enjoy the finest, like the finest, but I like grape jelly, popcorn, and reruns of MASH. It could be "demand" but that feels a bit pushy - like Prince Charles saying pretentiously, "I'm someone because I was born into a rich, royal family and I can push the 'little people' around." Jean de Riche is not like that. He is inclusive in his love of the finest things.

    Wouldn't you want to have your customers say they love your shirts?

    Fine Men's Clothing

    or

    Fine Clothing for Men

    I like Kimberly's idea. It might read better as "Unique, like you" . You may want "clothiers" or the like worked into the brand name if it is not in the tag line, just to accurately describe what you do.

    I don't have much to add here, but i did want to say that the OP's original post should be saved as an example for other posters asking questions.

    Very good prior research, and as you can see from the other posts, it yields better results.
