Need Name For A Fundraising Event Planning Busines

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
I am stumped. I am having a hard time coming up with a name and a tag line for a business I am opening that is a fundraising/event planning. Whatever I think of is either to long or sounds too dull. I am trying find something upbeat that sounds reliable. I am a middle aged woman who has done this on a volunteer basis but now I am going to do this as a full time business. I have very limited funds so everything I do is on a shoe string budget.

I hate being in the role of the spoiler, but if you think you can launch a successful business on a shoestring, you probably need a dash of cold water to bring you to reality. It's not impossible, of course, but the odds are really against you.

Consider that 9 out of 10 new businesses fail within 3 years. And also consider that the most common reason new businesses fail is that they are underfunded. Of course, everyone thinks they will be the one in ten that will make it ... because their product is better, or they are willing to work longer hours, or they are so enamored with their business idea that it "just has to work."

If we come up with a really great name and tagline, we're simply becoming your enabler. We're essentially encouraging you to take on a challenge that is likely to fail. Would that be a favor?

Have you thought about your start-up marketing expenses? Or how long you might have to go without a significant income? Have you created a business plan and projected your monthly cash flow for a year? Have you determined how long you will keep trying if the business doesn't develop fast enough?

I know these are painful questions, but I'd rather ask them now than have you come back in a year and ask us why nobody said something before you committed a year or more of your life to this business.

BTW, there is a very good MarketingProfs seminar and how-to guide that you really should review: Why Most Small Businesses Fail (and How to Avoid Being One of Them).

Thanks for the response. I have thought long and hard about it. I am not depandent right on the income that I would bring in so I am free at the moment to explore the possibility. I already have clients lined up so I will wait to see how that works out before I move on to marketing the business. Thank you though for your input
