I'm sure you're about to be pressed for details about your customers, location, style...etc., but even without these details, 4 big factors drive lunchtime traffic in every office I've worked in:

    Value
    Speed
    Convenience

Do I get tasty/healthy/filling food for a good price?
Can I pick it up, or eat in within an hour?
Do I have to stop at the ATM/wait in line/call ahead?

No matter what demographic you're looking to cater to, or how you choose to market, answering these questions upfront will help improve the effectiveness.

Agree w/need for speed, tasty and economical suggestions. PR ideas: give % discount coupons for lunch to all customers (dining and bar); put tents on all tables announcing lunch 'deals' and place a matching (graphically) large sandwich-board sign out front. Also, print fliers and put them on every available pole/post, surface and bulletin board in the local area. Get stacks of flyers to all businesses in the area w/discount coupons that can be clipped and redeemed. Don't forget the police and fire departments, concierge or security desk @ multi-tenanted commerical or residential buildings. Consider libraries, senior centers, town/city offices, supermarkets (for bulletin boards or hire a temp to stand and hand them out to exiting customers), etc.

Above all, make sure you can deliver on time and dollar constraints and taste to keep 'em coming back.

    Best of luck

Is your restaurant perceived as mostly "special events" or for "everyday eating"? Is the location of your restaurant in a busy, thriving business area or do people need to drive to your restaurant to eat there? Do people come to your restaurant for the food or atmosphere? As others have mentioned, the needs for lunch are generally different from dinner. The only exception would be off-site office meetings.

I would make sure that all of your guests who come in for your dinner know that you are open for lunch as well. (if you dont already) make sure that the lunch and dinner menu are different but part of the same menu. Have your waitresses/waiters say something to the customer when they give them their check or when they cash out. Put up some signage on the inside and outside of your place advertising lunch specials so that the big crowds for dinner will see them longer. Good luck and I hope those help out!!

Do you have local business around?

-offer office catering for lunch or breaks
-deliver menus to local business (employees are often looking for new places to dine)
-maybe try a "French-style" menu for lunch - meal + dessert + beverage
-Offer a special lunch menu- slightly smaller than dinner...slightly smaller price
-Check out the competition - what are the prices of the restaurants around you?
-Risky - but you could invite the local food editors for lunch
-Use social media to get the word out.

Maybe if you send me some more details about your restaurant location I could help you with more social media ideas.
