Dear Fellow Marketers:

I graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a bachelors degree in Marketing. Its been about a year now and I've still had no luck finding a job in my field within the Richmond, VA area. I've gotten very desperate searching for jobs in careerbuilder and other various job postings with no luck. I've just lost all hope. I'm willing to relocate to the DC or Baltimore area if so. Would anyone happen to know of any place within the Va or Baltimore area of any businesses hiring entry-level marketers?

Thank You,
John

I think you need to get more creative than career builder. Turn it around. Think about who you want to hire as your boss.

I would suggest additionally that you take a job in the interim where you can interact with the public and develop some management skills that will plump up your resume. I'm thinking retail (once they know you are degreed and you prove yourself on the floor, getting into management is a snap); banking; customer service; even restaurant management. Also, volunteer work (think committee chair) is a good way to get some management experience that will give you a leg up. Good luck!
